Being a Professor or Senior Lecturer at UNIL: roles, responsibilities and challenges

The UNIL Rectorate provides training for all new Professors and Senior Lecturers I and II in order to help you integrate into the UNIL culture and environment and ensure the right conditions for success.

Objectives

By making a commitment to UNIL, you are contributing to the realisation of the institutional missions of teaching and research at the regional, national and international level. This means:

  • Understanding the UNIL environment (missions, values, organisation, operation, etc.).
  • Acquiring the knowledge and skills required to fulfil the University's roles in teaching, research and management.
  • Promoting internal networking and contact with the various departments at UNIL.

Target audience

This training is part of the evaluation process set out in the Rectorate Directives*, indicating the compulsory training modules to be taken during the first two years by people who are newly recruited as Professors or Senior Lecturers I and II.

It is highly recommended but optional for SNSF PRIMA and ECCELLENZA Professors.

  • Directive 1.4 on tenure track professors: evaluation procedure

Teaching approach

  • Participative and interactive approach
  • Examples and exercises based on real, concrete cases
  • Incorporation of participants' professional practice and experience

The 2025 training courses will take place in room 2044 at the Anthropole.
