Our association Amnesty HEL promotes the defence of human rights on Lausanne's campuses by raising our students' awareness of environmental socio-political issues. Our activities and actions are organised around 5 sections: Women's Rights, Environment, Current Affairs, International Politics, LGBTQ+ and Asylum and Migration.

Within these sections, we organise a wide range of events and activities: conferences, film screenings and workshops. And also.... concrete actions: we're fighting against menstrual hygiene on campus, organising sustainability rallies, we're currently setting up a podcast, and we've already organised a waste collection. All in a caring and inclusive way.

If you too would like to fight for human rights and get involved in projects on issues that are close to your heart, we'd be delighted to hear from you. We look forward to meeting you!

The escolhares association is the result of a collaboration between Swiss and Brazilian medical students. Its aim is to organise eye screenings in schools in disadvantaged areas of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Where necessary, it then offers full ophthalmological examinations and provides children with eyeglasses, while raising awareness of the importance of vision and the need to wear glasses. This awareness-raising also involves training teachers and informing parents. The aim is to ensure a better quality of life for schoolchildren and encourage their development.

More than 3,000 children have already benefited from these ophthalmic screenings. escolhares is also active in Switzerland, raising awareness among medical students and the general public of the importance of children's eyes and early ophthalmological screening.

Engineers of the world is an association of students from EPFL-UNIL. Its aim is to encourage students to take responsibility for sustainability, equity and development issues. This means informing students about the inequalities in the world, the environmental and ethical problems that exist, and sometimes trying to come up with ideas for solutions by collaborating on concrete projects with partners around the world.

We are METIS, a student movement working against health inequalities, bringing together medical and nursing students. To achieve our goals, we have 4 national and 3 international projects:

  • The Education project organises lectures open to the public to raise awareness of the various aspects of health inequalities.
  • Our project interpreter recruits qualified translators to translate medical consultations for allophone patients.
  • The Breaking the silence project organises sign language courses for medical staff and students with the aim of optimising care for the deaf population.
  • Our project JEF - Young people in training recruits qualified students to facilitate the professional integration of young immigrants.
  • CALWHA supports children and teenagers with HIV/AIDS in Tanzania by organising activity days to raise awareness of their illness and the care they require.
  • Our project SUERTE in Ecuador, where we work in collaboration with a local student association, aims to stigmatise and educate the local population about tuberculosis, with the aim of limiting the spread of the disease.
  • And finally our latest project in Togo where we are working with the Africa Smile association to combat poverty in rural areas, particularly in the area of health.

What about our association? We are active on the UNIL and EPFL campuses and organise a variety of awareness-raising activities, including film screenings and conferences. We also take part in the famous Terre Des Hommes Orange Sale and other projects such as charity concerts! We have a committee, which organises the events and plans the projects, but we also have a great group of volunteers who help out with the events (particularly the orange sale). If you would like more information (Committee or volunteers), please don't hesitate to contact us on our networks or by email.
