Communications and Events Department (Unicom)

Unicom has been commissioned by the Rectorate to enhance the visibility and reputation of the University of Lausanne with its various audiences in Switzerland and around the world.


 

Overview

Unicom, the communications and events department, covers all aspects of communications, from consultancy to production. The department is also responsible for providing audiovisual support to teachers and for reserving premises for classes and events.

Services

Communications strategy and advice

  • Defining the corporate communications strategy
  • Responding to requests from the Rectorate and its departments
  • Facilitating a network of communications contacts in the departments, Faculties and interdisciplinary centres
Information for the community and the general public
  • Management and production of University publications (Actualités, Allez Savoir!, L'uniscope, podcasts)
  • Management of the Unisciences database presenting the activities of researchers and research units
  • Management of the University's web platforms (unil.ch central sites and mobile applications)
  • Management of official UNIL channels on social media
Media information and media coaching
Graphic design and production
  • Design of institutional materials (posters, brochures, etc.)
  • Guarantor of UNIL's graphic charter
  • Unilogo production: platform for UNIL print orders (business cards, compliments slips, etc.) and document templates

Campus event management and advice

Room management for classes and examinations (AEGS)

The Welcome, Events and Room Management (AEGS) group centralises requests and allocates rooms for classes and examinations, based on the needs communicated by the Faculties and the rooms available on campus.

It is also responsible for managing requests for one-off services (checking requests for prerequisites, checking dates/times against the academic calendar, type of occupancy, etc.)

Audiovisual support for teaching and events

Staff at each site provide the support needed to get equipment up and running, install it and troubleshoot problems remotely and on site.
