SEMP agreements

The nominations of exchange students must reach us by April 30 for the autumn semester, and by October 15 for the spring semester.

Students do not need to send us their application.

Bilateral agreements

The nominations of exchange students must reach us by March 15 for the autumn semester, and by September 30 for the spring semester.

Student exchange applications must reach us by March 31 for the autumn semester, and by October 15 for the spring semester.

For question concerning details of the study programme (teaching language, credits awarded for a specific course, etc.), please contact the Study Counsellor in the Faculty.

Credits

UNIL uses ECTS credits. 60 ECTS credits represent one year of full-time study.

Credits linked to a teaching unit (course, module) are only awarded if the assessment linked to this unit is passed (written or oral exam, dissertation, continuous assessment, etc.).

Grades

Scale of marks from 0 to 6, with 6 as the best mark and 4 as the minimum pass mark.

  • 6: excellent
  • 5.5: very good
  • 5: good
  • 4.5: satisfactory
  • 4: adequate
  • 3.5 : insufficient
  • 3 : poor
  • 2.5 : poor to very poor
  • 2: very poor
  • 1.5 : almost no performance
  • 1 : no performance at all
  • 0: unjustified absence from examinations, fraud or attempted fraud

Transcript of marks

A transcript of marks is sent to the home university, showing the marks and credits obtained. The transcript is sent within four weeks of the end of the examination session.
