Parking

Where can I park?

Mobility and sustainability go hand in hand at UNIL, so we urge you to take public transport or cycle paths to get to campus. All the sites are served by bus, metro or train. However, there are a number of car parks where you can park your vehicle (of any type) if you need to use your own transport. We encourage the entire university community to use them sensibly.

Parking on the UNIL campus at Dorigny and Bugnon 7-9 is subject to 24-hour authorisation.

A parking permit is understood to mean:

  1. A valid parking ticket visibly placed behind the windscreen. The ticket does not need to be visible in the case of car parks with a barrier.
  2. A valid parking sticker affixed visibly behind the windscreen and accompanied by a parking card.
  3. A valid one-off paper authorisation, duly dated, stamped and signed, placed visibly behind the windscreen.

Consecutive parking time is limited to a maximum of 72 hours.

Parking areas

Parking on the UNIL campus is divided into three types of zone, as well as special areas for people with reduced mobility, shared and electric cars and maintenance staff. Each zone can be viewed on the map below, or by opening PlanèteUNIL directly and selecting the specific zones.

More information on rates and parking times can be found on the parking areas page.

Practical information

  • You can register up to three registration plate numbers for a single parking sticker. In this case, the sticker will be laminated and must be visibly affixed to the windscreen of the vehicle parked on campus.
  • Multiple vehicles registered on the same parking sticker cannot park simultaneously on campus.
  • People who share a car must contact parking@unil.ch and follow the instructions given.

UNIL Faculties may submit requests for exceptional parking permits for third parties in connection with their activities. Only authorised individuals may use this form.

Complete form
  1. Infringements of this Directive or of the principles of the road traffic laws and regulations in force may be reported to the police authorities.
  2. In the event of an infringement, an administrative fee covering the costs of handling the case in the amount of CHF 45 is payable by the offender. This must be paid within 10 days by payment slip or directly in cash to the UniSEP reception desk (parking) at UniSEP, Annexe de la Mouline, 1015 Lausanne. If the offender fails to pay the fee by the deadline, a reminder fee of CHF 10 will be charged in addition to the fee already due. In the event of non-payment, the offence will be reported to the competent authority in accordance with the legislation in force.
  3. Repeated infringements of this Directive may result in the parking permit being withdrawn without compensation and the vehicle being immobilised at the owner's expense.
  4. In the event of a dispute over the infringement, only written complaints sent to UniSEP (UniSEP, Annexe de la Mouline, 1015 Lausanne) or to parking@unil.ch within 10 days of notification of the infringement will be considered.

The Rectorate accepts no responsibility for theft or other damage to the vehicle resulting from offences committed involving the vehicle.

Frequently asked questions

This option is displayed prior to payment at the pay station, so all you have to do is select it.

The holder must report any loss or theft of a parking sticker or parking card immediately to parking@unil.ch and then come to the UniSEP office with their Campus Card and driving licence to get a replacement.

A fee of CHF 25 will be charged for each new sticker or parking card. This sum is non-refundable if the initial sticker or parking card is subsequntly found, as they are automatically cancelled once they have been reported lost.

This authorisation only gives access to green zones equipped with barriers (Geopolis car parks, Chamberonne2 and the Sorge car park) for the number of hours (quota) specified when the sticker is purchased.

Any holder of a parking sticker travelling to a UNIL car park with a vehicle other than the one registered at the time of the parking request must inform UniSEP by contacting parking@unil.ch and follow the instructions given.

Up to three registration plate numbers can be registered for a single parking sticker. In this case, the sticker will be laminated and must be visibly affixed to the windscreen of the vehicle parked on campus. Several vehicles registered on the same parking sticker may not be parked on campus at the same time. People who share a car must contact parking@unil.ch and follow the instructions given.

You have 15 minutes to exit the car park free of charge. You therefore do not need to go to the pay station to leave during this time.

Parking outside a marked space is not tolerated in UNIL car parks. You have 15 minutes to leave the car park free of charge in order to find a space elsewhere.

Visitors can park in the green zones at the same rates as in the white zones between 6pm and 8am and at weekends.

Please follow this link to the Parking Directive point 0.11, "Parking at UNIL". The Directive came into force from 1 August 2022.

It is available here.
