Development of BIPs

Blended Intensives Programmes (BIPs) are offered by CIVIS to support the development of short-term mobility as a new mobility format in the Erasmus+ programme. Each BIP combines online learning with a short five-day period of physical mobility at a CIVIS university. This format, which is similar to a summer or winter school, is designed to promote short-term mobility, while offering students at all levels (bachelor, master, doctorate) an international experience.

  • Proposals must involve at least 3 CIVIS member universities;
  • The teaching programme must be worth between 3 and 6 ECTS;
  • The programme must be in a mixed format (virtual sessions and five days of physical mobility);
  • The programme must be linked to one of the Alliance's themes:
  • A minimum of 10 students must take part in the programme;
  • BIPs may or may not be part of institutions’s existing course offerings. They may be entirely new teaching or the adaptation of an existing course by adding features such as the hybrid teaching mode and the participation of other institutions in the alliance.
  • The coordination of a BIP involves the organisation of the teaching programme, the hosting of students and teachers who are members of the alliance and who participate in the BIP, and the prior validation of ECTS by UNIL.
  • Projects must be validated by the Faculty Deacons and obtain the agreement of the Teaching Department for Bachelor/Master programmes or from the Graduate Campus for doctoral programmes.
  • Funding of up to CHF 6,000 to 8,000 (depending on the number of participants) is available to cover organisational costs.
  • A maximum of CHF 5,000 is available to cover the costs of organising the event.

Calls for BIPs projects take place once a year and are published on the CIVIS websiteThe 6th call for proposals is open until January 10, 2025. More information here.

"The BIPs are a great opportunity to try out new teaching formats and to collaborate with European colleagues in a cross-disciplinary way on scientific issues. These exchanges are as enriching for the students as they are for the teachers, who can draw inspiration from new approaches and methodologies."
