Relatives and carers

One in ten people in the UNIL community regularly provides voluntary help to an elderly, sick or disabled person, usually a family member. To help them meet the challenge of reconciling this care with their professional life or studies, these 'family carers' will find useful information and links here.

Practical information

Employees of the State of Vaud (UNIL or outside UNIL) can take leave to care for a family member.

This leave, which lasts up to 12 days per calendar year, is intended for people who have to provide regular or permanent help or care to a relative whose health is seriously or permanently impaired and who is dependent on their assistance.
