HUB Entrepreneurship and Innovation

The HUB supports entrepreneurial spirit and innovation at UNIL. It serves the needs of the entire community, including students, alumni, researchers, professors from the 7 faculties of UNIL, as well as administrative and technical staff.

HUB mission

The HUB Entrepreneurship and Innovation was launched at the end of 2019 to foster an entrepreneurial spirit and support impact-driven entrepreneurship and innovation projects from the UNIL community. The HUB supports a vision of entrepreneurship at the service of the social, ecological and economic transition.

HUB governance

Since its creation, the HUB has operated with two governing bodies:

Villanova

The Villanova is a creative, collaborative, interdisciplinary space. It is a focal point for the HUB's activities, including the UCreate and Impulse programmes. It offers project leaders an inspiring workspace in which to explore, try out and test their innovative solutions, strengthen collaborative relationships and stimulate the exchange of ideas.

Programmes and activities

The HUB is split into three areas that offer a combination of events, activities and programmes to inspire, engage and motivate our community.

Entrepreneurship

Inspire and support members of the UNIL community to explore and put their ideas into practice to play an active role in the transition.

For the entire UNIL community:

  • UCreate – A programme that supports all types of projects with a social and/or environmental impact.
  • UCreate projects (current students and alumni) – Participants in our UCreate programme.
  • 100 UNIL Entrepreneurs - A community of UNIL alumni entrepreneurs.
  • Global Entrepreneurship Week at UNIL – An annual event held in partnership with student associations, where you can discover the many facets of entrepreneurship and meet local entrepreneurs working on a variety of topics.

Intrapreneurship

Use the full potential of administrative and technical staff by supporting them in creating solutions to institutional challenges.

For administrative and technical staff:

  • Impulse – A programme dedicated to administrative and technical staff in UNIL's central services and Faculties who want to implement innovative solutions to institutional challenges.

Social innovation and education

The Centre of Expertise in Social Innovation promotes a culture of innovation for the common good, at UNIL and in French-speaking Switzerland.

It provides expertise for the Faculties and the entire university ecosystem, as well as a forum for disseminating and adopting models of systemic change through the Social Innovation Forum.

For the entire UNIL community and external stakeholders:

  • Social Innovation Forum – A forum at UNIL to give a voice to the social entrepreneurs who are transforming our world.

For UNIL students:

  • Bachelor's and Master's interdisciplinary courses in social innovation – Support for the Faculties through courses offered by the HUB.
