Recruitment process for full and associate professors

1. You are browsing our vacancies

All our vacancies are published online for all faculties except the Faculty of Biology and Medicine.

2. You apply for the offer that suits you

The application file includes at least:

  • Letter of motivation

  • Curriculum vitae

  • Copies of diplomas, in particular the doctorate diploma

In addition, the application must meet the requirements set out in the job advertisement.

3. We carefully analyse your application and shortlist the candidates

A pre-application committee is appointed to manage the process, and its role includes analysing applications and shortlisting candidates for interview.

4. We will meet you for one or more interviews and invite you to a public lecture.

Selected candidates are invited to at least one interview and one public hearing with the presentation committee.

5. A presentation committee report is drawn up

Following the interviews and the public lecture, the presentation committee draws up a report which is submitted to the Faculty Council via the Décanat. Once the latter and its proposals have been approved by the Faculty Council, the report is forwarded to the Executive Board for a decision.

6. We make an offer to the successful candidate

When the report is submitted to the UNIL Management, the initial salary is set in coordination between the Management and the Human Resources Department. As a general rule, the Faculty Director will inform the person selected for the initial appointment of his/her individual salary before the meeting with the Director.

Experience is determined by the period between the date of appointment and the date of completion of the doctoral thesis, minus 5 years.

Where the difference between the date of appointment and the date of completion of the doctorate is less than 5 years (60 months), the starting salary is set at the minimum of the scale.

Example

  • Date of appointment: 1st August 2022
  • Date of obtaining doctorate: 1st September 2008
  • Calculation rule: subtract 5 years

Calculation for setting the starting salary

  • 2022 - 2008 = 13
  • 13 - 5 = 8
  • Step retained: 9
  • From step 1 + 8 additional
  • Step selected = 9
  • The salary of the incumbent then rises to the maximum of the scale.

The Human Resources is responsible for setting the salary.

7. Welcome to UNIL

The Management adopts the conclusions of the committee's report and meets with the primo loco candidate to validate his/her commitment. The Human Resources Department draws up the employment contract and informs the Welcome Centre in order to prepare for the arrival of the new member of staff.
