Preparation for the Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)

This Cambridge University ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) certificate is asked for by many universities in English-speaking countries. It is also very useful when applying for a job.

Learning outcomes

  • Apply appropriate strategies in a range of formal or informal communication situations, both social and professional (negotiating, collaborating, etc.)
  • Correct one's writing and speaking errors
  • Recognise the intention and the point of view of speakers in talks, interviews and informal conversations
  • Use different reading stratégies in order to grasp the overall or specific relevance and implications of a range of text types (journalistic, advertising, academic, etc.)
  • Write clear, well-structured texts (essays, letters, reports, reviews) in an appropriate style using relevant, nuanced vocabulary
  • Deal with basic intercultural differences and grasp their significance in communication
