Exchange students

Each year, UNIL hosts nearly 600 exchange students from five continents for one or two semesters. The Social Affairs and Student Mobility Office (SASME) is responsible for welcoming exchange students to UNIL.

Contact SASME

SASME organises a welcome day before the start of each semester especially for you, exchange students, to give you the best possible information about the University of Lausanne. Throughout the academic year, SASME also organises a number of special events for you, such as a Christmas party, cultural excursions, etc. Finally, it will help you with all the practical aspects of your stay in Lausanne and on campus, including administrative procedures on arrival, insurance, etc. A practical guide containing all the information you need to prepare for your exchange at UNIL is also available.

For academic questions, your first point of contact is your faculty mobility coordinator. They have the most detailed knowledge of the course programmes at your faculty, school or section, as well as the registration procedures. They will therefore be able to give you the best guidance for students in choosing their course.

To make your integration in Lausanne easier, UNIL works closely with the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), which helps to make your stay as pleasant as possible. ESN organises numerous events throughout the academic year and offers a buddy scheme to help you settle in Switzerland. Finally, a welcome week is organised by ESN just before the start of the semester.

To make sure you don't miss out on any news, important dates or information about exchanges, follow SASME on instagram and join the Telegram channel dedicated to UNIL exchange students.
