Swiss mobility

Target audience:

• Students in all UNIL faculties

Geographical areas covered:

• Switzerland

1. Attend the information session on university exchanges organised by your faculty or school/section at the start of the academic year.
   For the date of the session, check your faculty’s website at the beginning of the academic year, check the e-mails on your UNIL account regularly and, if necessary, contact your mobility adviser 
2. Check how much time your faculty allows you to spend away on an exchange.
3. Identify the destination you would like to consider for your exchange. Check the websites of Swiss universities.
4. Study the course programmes at the universities you are considering carefully and check that they are compatible with the course you are taking at UNIL.
5. Make an appointment with your mobility adviser to make sure that the courses you are planning to take will be recognised when you return.
6. Have the study plan (in margin) signed by the mobility coordinator of your faculty or section/school, who will then send our service (SASME) a list of students selected for a Swiss mobility stay.
7. Based on the lists of candidates sent by the faculties, the SASME will then appoint you to the Swiss university where you plan to go for a Swiss mobility. These universities will then send you their registration procedure for your study stay.
8. You will receive confirmation of your departure and the possible awarding of a Swiss mobility grant (CHF 500.- per semester) by e-mail from SASME within a month after the application deadline.

The application deadline (except for the School of Medicine) is April 1 (for the autumn semester or the following academic year) and October 15 (for the spring semester)

School of Medicine: deadline is February 1 for the autumn and/or spring semester of the following academic year.

1. The placement must take place in a different language region, with a different teaching language from the student’s native language.
2. In order to be able to pay the eventual mobility grant, the SASME will need a proof of final registration in the host university, as well as your bank details. More information will be provided to students in the confirmation email (point H above).
